Darshan/ Philosophies through the ages: Truth and Experience, Dialogue and Debate
Darshan means ‘vision’ and also the ‘instrument of vision’. It stands for the spontaneous vision of reality. Our vision of the truth has always been a matter of direct experience. Every darshan is a truth, the truth which transcends that factual and culminates to what is known as the intuitive reality. This intuitive reality shapes the perspectives of life. Our evolving contexts, modern scientific knowledge, media, and technological achievements have challenged age old mythical truths about space, time, universe, life and humans, and yet no serious attempt is made not only by the tradition-bound sramana, but also by the educated intelligentia, to shift what is outdated and obsolete and what is still living and relevant in scriptural and other religious literature.
The challenge is to now identify the questions of and for contemporary generations.
This is a call for papers to take up cognitive (moral and rational), connotative and volitional analysis and application of the religious principles as found in the various philosophical systems and darshans and whether they enable us with at least an approach to answer our evolving, contextual questions. Therefore, there is a requirement to re-interpret the scriptures on the basis of modern developments. Where the evolving code of ethical conduct is based on contextual faith and knowledge, and where principles of justice, equality and freedom are truly recognized.

Eikam invites lovers of knowledge to explore the various understanding of, and analyses into Darshan expounded in textual traditions across spaces and times.

We look forward to receiving your articles, your research papers, your experiential stories, your conversations with spiritual leaders, your commentaries… your understanding of your Darshan - orthodox and unconventional, traditional and modern, scriptural and experienced, imbibed and explored, western and eastern.
